Mrs. Sicille P. C. Kotelawala

Sicille Kotelawala's rigorous discipline in Kandyan dancing, imparted by the leading exponent of the dance form in Sri Lanka - the late Heen Baba - unknowingly prepared her for her role as the strength behind Ceylinco Consolidated. Her experience with choreography honoured her ability to handle several roles simultaneously, both in the home and in the boardroom.

Her solo dance performances at St. James' Palace, Oxford, Commonwealth and her strenuous performances in 22 cities across the US was received with standing ovations at Carnegie Hall, Smithsonian Institute and U.C.L.A., and inculcated a great degree of confidence in the young girl. She has since authored the well-received Classical Dance of Sri Lanka - Kandyan Dance and served on various international economic, trade and investment committees. Her proudest moment was her presentation on Sri Lankan gemstones and jewellery manufacturing capabilities at the Egypt Asia Conference in 1996. She has designed a unique diamond-cut ring, "Papillon," which has received rave reviews.

Her passionate involvement with dance and her role as Ambassador of Sri Lanka's culture and potential to all comers of the world, led to her being appointed as the Honorary Consul-General for Cyprus. She was also appointed Counsellor for Trade in Belgium, in 1998, by decree of His Majesty Albert II, King of the Belgians. She was instrumental in putting Kandyan dance on the international map, when she wrote a description of the dance form and its manifestations in the acclaimed "international Encyclopedia of Dance,"

Sicille Kotelawala has been and still is a pillar of strength to her husband, as he lays the foundations of his business empire by resurrecting troubled companies. Realising the importance of her priviledged travels abroad Sicille Kotelawala displayed Sri Lanka's export potential in gems, diamonds and tourism. At various points in time, she was instrumental in initiating many new companies and new business ventures within the group. She was also instrumental in founding Solo-U (Society of love and understanding) together with her husband in an effort to support the peace process and bring an end to the ethnic conflict. Realising her astute business sense, the Chairman would often use her as a sounding board, as the two would brainstorm about further enhancing their group's business.

Sicille Kotelawala attributes her international success to her ability to keep close contact with clients, business partners and prospects. She feels Ceylinco Consolidated's success has been due to the fact that it has built a reputation for never letting its business partners down. She is currently involved with the refurbishing and repositioning of Hotel Ceysands in the tourism market.

Sicille Kotelawala's generous disposition and her all-encompassing affection for all employees within the group companies has accorded her immense founts of inspiration and confidence, which Ceylinco employees can always draw upon.
